What works on getting rid of a dogs bad breath?

get his teeth cleaned at the vet’s. No kidding! Like people, bad breath is often caused by bacteria and plaque.

Have you tried Dinovite? I’ve heard it being advertised on the radio. I think that is the correct spelling.

Doggy mints…they come in a little tin can like altoids..and they are shaped like little bones..I have a pug…talk about bad breath..they don’t like having their teeth brushed..that’s for sure..mine wouldn’t eat them..but my boyfriend did…didn’t help him either..lol

you can get your dog’s teeth cleaned or ( i know that u said u hav bought store bought items) there are MANY types of dog-breath-freshening treats.

You can either brush their teeth, put 1/2 of a listerine strip in their mouth or give them these products called greenies, that you can find at your local pet store. Or you can after every 2-3 years, take your dog to the vet and have them clean your dog teeth!

yes, like other people have said already, go to the vet and have a cleaning done. If the teeth have tartar stuck to them you aren’t going to be able to remove it (or the smell) yourself.

Getting the dogs teeth cleaned will certainly help. Also try some liquid chlorophyll. A drop or 2 in the water works for all kinds of obnoxious odors. You can find it at most health food stires, & also most of the liquid breath freshening agents that you see in pet stores have it in them. They work!

I have a toy Eskie too! She also has bad breath. We find that greenies typically help her – but what helps even more is a deep cleaning at the vet every 9-12 months. It’s about $150, but we find that it helps her tremendously. It seems that they are prone to gum disease and if it isn’t taken care of, can make them sick and they won’t live as long. Of course my wife and I love our dog and so it’s worth the investment! I hope it works out for you!
Be cautious of adding things to their food and water as vets will often tell you that these chloryphyl addins and powders actually harm their livers and kidneys – causing even more problems.

I have an old friend that has given her dog an “Acidophilus” pill for as long as I’ve known. This is what I found at a dog site about the pill.
“Combines friendly bacteria that promote good intestinal flora in dogs to support good digestive function.* Acidophilus may also help your pets with gas, bad breath, hot spots, cracked skin around the nose and mouth, as well as with fleas and ticks.”
Her dog has always had good breath. Good Luck!

Veterinary teeth cleaning,teeth cleaning chew toys. Greenies are **VERY BAD** for your dog. Choose either hard raw hide or rubber.
